Frequently Asked Questions

Let’s face it, visiting a new place can be uncomfortable. However, at the Visalia Seventh-day Adventist Church, we like to think of ourselves as one big family. To help put first-time guests at ease, we’ve assembled a few common questions that we’ve received over the years.

When are your worship services?

The Visalia SDA Church meets every Saturday morning on our campus at 1310 S. Woodland Drive in Visalia. Service times are:

  • First Church Service: 9:00am
  • Bible Study Time/Sabbath School: 10:00am (equivalent to Sunday School in other churches)
  • Second Church Service: 11:15am

Is there any difference in the worship style between the two services?

No. Though some churches have a traditional early service and a contemporary late-morning service, the worship experience at Visalia Seventh-day Adventist Church will be the same whether you come early or later. We went to two services in late 2011 after reaching the maximum capacity of our main sanctuary consistently from week to week. We’ve been told that the early service also works well for families with young children. Members and guests are encouraged to attend whichever service fits their needs.

What should I wear?

You’re welcome whatever you choose to wear. People who attend our service come from all walks of life; therefore it is hard to be specific. For men, the dress will range from jeans and a tee shirt to a suit. Most guys will wear a polo shirt and docker/khaki pants. For the ladies, the dress also ranges from jeans to a dress. Most of the ladies will either be wearing a dress or slacks.

Is there anything available for my children?

Yes, quite a bit actually. We regularly have a large number of children and young people who attend our services each Saturday. From our worship services at 9:00am and 11:15am, to our Bible study time at 10:00 a.m., we try to remember (and address) the needs of our young people.

During our worship services, we offer:

  • Nursery care for children 0-24 months
  • Children’s Church is available for preschoolers ages 2-4 years, and 5-10 years. (Note: Children’s Church is available only during the 11:15am worship service)
  • Sliding rockers in the women’s restroom for the privacy of nursing mothers

I’ve never attended a church that worships on Saturday. What’s it like?

Much of what you might have experienced in a church that worships on Sunday, you will experience during your visit with us. Many things might be similar—but the Bible says that the Sabbath is special and we believe you’ll notice a difference.
